Two farmers are forced to leave their homeland in the Andes because politicians lure them with empty promises while essentially neglecting them.
The differences in living conditions between the highlands and the capital are vast in Peru. The government in Lima neglects the needs of the rural population and, despite its narrative of unity and solidarity, abandons them in times of hardship. Over the past decades, many people have migrated from the countryside to the city in the hope of finding security and a better future.
However, a large proportion of these people now live in poverty in the outermost districts of Lima.
