The 2022 blog project starting in its third round
As last year, the blog project 2022 “Voices against racism and populism” starts with three independent editorial teams, a text editorial team, a short film editorial team and a podcast editorial team. The last one was able to persist from the previous project and is now headed by Julika Kott. Lisa Voelter again supports the participants in the production of the short films, and is actively supported by Narges Shahid Kalhory, new in the team. Editors-in-chief for this year are also new: Maryline Boudot and Louise Schöneshöfer from Studierendenwerk Freiburg are leading the text editorial team.
20 participants from Freiburg, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Lörrach and Mulhouse will make their voices heard against racism and populism through their respective editorial offices. Most of the members of the editorial team are students of different subjects and also bring different backgrounds. We hope that this diversity will also be reflected in our blog and we look forward to working on the topics of racism and populism in an intercultural context, especially in a German-French context.
The 2021 blog project with a new editorial office
In 2021, the blog “Voices against Racism and Populism” consisted of three independent editorial teams who together wanted to make their voices against racism and populism heard through texts, short films and podcasts – whereas Podcast then was a newly created editorial office. About 30 students and volunteers from Freiburg, Offenburg, Strasbourg, Lyon, Karlsruhe and Villingen-Schwenningen met for this purpose. All the members of the editorial staff have different biographies, some of them have an immigrant background, some have immigrated themselves – or not. We hoped that this diversity would also be reflected in the contributions of the editorial offices.
The text editors in the project 2021 were Julika Kott and Undine Weimar-Dittmar of the Studentenwerk Freiburg; in Lyon, the podcast editors were energetically led by Maha Ganem, and the participants were supported by Lisa Voelter and Margitta Freund in the production of their short films.
The 2020 blog project, marked by the Corona pandemic
In 2020, the ten-person editorial team consisted of French and German students as well as volunteers from the German-French Youth Office, who were tasked with producing journalistic articles on the topic of racism and populism as part of the project “Voices against Racism and Populism”.
Hey, we are the 2020 editorial team!
What unites us? Our love for the language, but especially our common interest in social topics in a Franco-German context, so that we could contribute to a project beyond our borders.
This blog project has allowed us to concretize this Franco-German cooperation by a bilingual journalistic editing and by the creation of a digital space giving visibility to the voices rising up against populism and racism.
The contributions to the blog consisted of texts and films from the editorial team as well as texts written in cooperation with students from the universities of the Upper Rhine and Lyon, who testify about their experiences with racism and populism.
Our editorial work was supported by the association of the Jugendpresse Deutschland with the media project “Politikorange“. “Politikorange” is an editorial corps for young journalists, allowing them to learn journalistic work in the context of editorial projects and promoting knowledge sharing.
Our editors Veronique Gantenberg and Hannah Bernstein from Jugendpresse Deutschland, as well as Christina Braun from Studierendenwerk Freiburg, helped us with the writing of this blog.
